How to Make Your Own Beats in Hours!
I've been in the music industry for over ten years. I have personally dealt with over a hundred producers. Some were great at making beats, but were not dependable. And some of the ones that were dependable, their beats were not that good. I am very serious about my craft, so I hated the fact that I had to wait for a producer to do something with my track or make an appointment to ever hear beats. So I got fed up and learned to make my own beats. Here are some easy tips on how to make your own beats.
1. Know your style. A lot of musicians (especially rappers) just listen to several of different beats, pick out some they like, and rap over them. Some of the beats are different styles, genres, and flavors. This is one mistake a lot of artists make. They don't know their particular style. So before starting to make your own beats, know the style you want to give yourself. Record labels will then know your strengths.
2. Know how to make a song. This step is critical especially when learning how to make your own beats. Depending on what genre you are working with, the format of the song may be different. If you are working with R&B tracks, the format is usually the intro, verse, chorus, verse, bridge, etc. If you are a rapper, there is usually not a bridge. But you cannot just have a basic beat throughout the song. There should be a switch up where the listener knows which part of the beat is the chorus, verse, bridge and etc.
3. Practice, practice, practice! I know that sounds cliche, but really it should be number 1. Everyone cannot make quality beats. It is a gift and talent. If you're an artist trying to learn how to make your own beats, you must put forth just as much effort you put into your songwriting.
